Finally for the OR!
After a long and intensive work on the production of the .eng files of the V 100 models for the OR, these are finally ready and not only for the three packages of the V 100 of the Bundesbahn and the package of the V 100 of the DBAG, but also for the Packages for replacing and supplementing the V 100 from GR and PT, the package with the V 100 from the NBE and the package from Peter Hanslip. This means that all available V 100s are available with the new .eng files.
About the new .eng files
There are two different .eng files for the OR. A simple and an advanced version. The latter contains various functions that are only available in the OR and not in the MSTS. In addition, the extended version offers the possibility to make the driving behavior of the locomotives much more realistic. In view of this, only the extended version was considered for the production of the .eng files. The additional functions include the integrated display of a leaky coupling for the steam train heating system.
Of particular importance and therefore also the main reason for selecting the extended version of the eng. file for the production of the .eng files for the V 100 is the possibility of finally representing the hydraulic power transmission realistically. The traction force curves of the original were necessary for this. These are of course in my possession, but the values they contained had to be read out and converted to the units of measurement used in the .eng file. That was by far the largest amount of work, because it's all about showing the power transmission very precisely. But that is not all.
The V 100 has a lever in its driver's cab that can be used to set the transmission to low or high gear. With the slow gear, which is intended for manoeuvring, you can reach a top speed of 65 km/h and the high gear, intended for long-distance journeys, 100 km/h. The brake lever for brake positions G or P is located on the left side of the frame just behind the driver's cab. These different settings can now also be displayed realistically. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to integrate these different settings in one .eng file, but that will come. Several .eng files still need to be created at this time, which has been done. For each locomotive there is an .eng file with the low gear position and the G brake position and an .eng file with the high gear position and the P brake position. The files have the extension LG or SP in their file names. This abbreviation is also in the friendly name of the .eng file.
A further improvement was achieved with regard to the operation of the brakes. It has now also become possible to realistically depict not only the functioning of the Knorr-type driver's brake valve but also the functionality of the Westinghouse-type driver's brake valve, which is why every V 100 now has the correctly functioning driver's brake valve.
Other differences
The locomotive packages have the abbreviation OR in their name and the readme files are provided with the OR emblem so that they can be distinguished from the previous locomotive packages.
