Go on
Converting my site to trilingualism turned out to be the right decision, which is reflected in the increased interest in my site. This applies in particular to all users who access the English-language site.
1000 visitors
On September 25th, 2021 my site had its 1000th visitor. Once again I would like to thank you all for your interest and your encouragement.

Open Rails Version 1.4
Version 1.4, which is expected to be available on October 19, 2021, will include the following new features.
- The version 1.4 now saves details of the installed version in the Windows Registry.
Your content installer can now check whether the version of Open Rails currently installed is compatible with your content and upgrade it if not.
You can now be sure that features available in OR 1.4 (activities, timetables, 3D cabs etc.) will work correctly on your users' PCs.
- The version 1.4 provides 0-99 levels of World Object Density. Levels 0-49 are intended for objects visible to users and 50-99 are intended for tool objects such as labels, rulers and pins. The default setting is 49.
You can now create content with your tool objects at the higher numbers and not have to remove them before publishing the content.
- The version 1.4 improves on the timetable facility previously available and timetables with hundreds of trains are being used successfully.
In many ways, timetables are to be preferred over traditional activities and provide for complex train movements (including splitting and joining). If you haven't explored the possibilities that timetables provide for your content, then perhaps now is the time to do so.
- The version 1.4 includes a web server with read-only APIs which many players are using to display pop-ups (e.g. F4 and F10) on a browser.
This feature can also be used to serve background information, including images, based on the location of a train or the simulation time.
As soon as version 1.4 is available, I will inform you about it.
Open Rails also for Linux in the future
In May 2021, the OR was successfully ported to Linux for the first time. This development is still in its initial phase, but it is obvious that development is proceeding here too.
How is this continuing?
Currently the packages of the series 65 and 82 and the texture revision of the packages GR DB DBAG V 100 Austausch and GR DBAG V 100 Ergänzung in progress.
Until next time
